56-year-old Shaun Fallon and his 27-year-old son died from gunshot wounds after robbing a bank and barricading themselves in a motel room while threatening police with weapons and explosives.

The father-son criminal team struck the Chelsea Groton Bank on Gold Star Highway, Connecticut.

Wearing medical masks to conceal their identities, they passed a threatening note to a bank teller, implying they were armed.

After successfully obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, they fled the scene in a getaway vehicle, temporarily eluding authorities.

Local police quickly mobilized to track down the suspects, demonstrating the rapid response capabilities that law-abiding citizens depend on for protection in their communities.

Police officers traced the suspects’ vehicle to a nearby Super 8 Motel, where the situation escalated from a simple arrest to a dangerous standoff.

Upon discovering they were surrounded, the Fallons barricaded themselves in their motel room and refused to surrender to authorities.

They claimed to be heavily armed with both firearms and explosives, forcing police to evacuate the entire motel and a neighboring business to protect innocent bystanders from potential harm.

For six tense hours, law enforcement officers attempted to negotiate with the desperate criminals while keeping the public safe from harm.

During this extended standoff, the Fallons repeatedly threatened officers and refused all attempts at peaceful resolution.

“This was an extremely dangerous and volatile situation, and I want to commend the bravery and professionalism of all the law enforcement personnel involved in bringing it to a close,” Groton Police Chief L.J. Fusaro stated after the incident was resolved.

Late at night, officers stationed outside the motel room heard two gunshots from inside.

Employing tactical technology, police dispatched a drone to assess the situation inside the room, where they discovered “apparent gunshot wounds incapacitated both suspects.”

Emergency personnel then entered the room after a bomb squad cleared it, finding no actual explosives despite the criminals’ threats.

The duo was transported to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Despite receiving medical attention, the youngest Fallon died from his wounds on June 13, while his father died three days later on June 16.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has yet to determine the official cause and manner of their deaths, although gunshot wounds were clearly the immediate cause.

The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities still seeking additional information from the public about the Fallons and their criminal activities.
