Democrat Congresswoman ARRAIGNED – Assault Charges! – WATCH

Democratic Party logo on a cracked, peeling surface.

In a scene reminiscent of a chaotic third-world confrontation, a U.S. Congresswoman faces federal charges for allegedly assaulting and interfering with immigration officers while trying to shield a fellow Democrat from arrest.

Watch the video and read the tweet further down this post.

Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney Alina Habba is prosecuting LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) for an incident where she reportedly “slammed” her forearm into federal agents during what Democrats claim was a routine congressional oversight visit.

McIver, a Democrat from New Jersey, is scheduled to be arraigned on federal assault charges today.

The charges stem from a May 9 incident at Newark’s Delaney Hall, a privately owned facility used by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain illegal aliens.

The case represents a rare instance of a sitting member of Congress facing criminal charges unrelated to the usual corruption or fraud allegations that typically plague Washington politicians.

McIver has been indicted on three serious counts, two of which carry maximum sentences of up to eight years in prison and the third of which carries a maximum of one year behind bars.

The severity of these charges demonstrates that the Trump administration is finally holding Democrats accountable for their actions.

The criminal complaint, filed by interim U.S. Attorney Alina Habba, alleges that McIver “slammed” her forearm into an ICE agent and attempted to physically restrain him from performing his duties.

According to the indictment, when Newark Mayor Ras Baraka (D-NJ) was being arrested for trespassing, McIver tried to prevent the arrest by wrapping her arms around him and again assaulting a federal agent with her forearm.

McIver’s attorney, Paul Fishman, a former U.S. Attorney for New Jersey under the Obama administration, claims she will challenge these allegations “head-on.”

However, video evidence released by the Department of Homeland Security shows McIver involved in a physical confrontation with officers, though her defenders stated her actions were not intentional.

This appears to be yet another example of Democrats believing they are above the law when it comes to enforcing the nation’s immigration policies.

The incident is part of a broader pattern of Democrat obstructionism against Trump administration officials who are simply trying to enforce the nation’s immigration laws.

Democrats continue to prioritize illegal aliens over the safety and security of American citizens, even resorting to physical confrontation with law enforcement when they do not get their way.

Meanwhile, Democrats in New Jersey’s congressional delegation, including Reps. Bonnie Watson Coleman and Rob Menendez (D-NJ) have rushed to defend McIver and criticize her arrest, but the facts appear clear.

Members of Congress do have legal authority to enter federal immigration facilities for oversight purposes without prior notice.

Still, that authority does not extend to physically assaulting federal officers or obstructing them in the performance of their duties. No elected official is above the law.

McIver was elected to Congress in a special election following the death of Rep. Donald Payne Jr. and subsequently won a full term.

A Newark native who previously served as president of the Newark City Council, McIver will now have to face the consequences of her actions in court.

The case serves as a reminder that in America, everyone must follow the rule of law, even Democrat members of Congress who believe they can physically interfere with immigration enforcement.
