A shocking new report has made an alarming revelation: the Biden administration secretly used three different autopen signatures for key executive actions.
The Oversight Project, an independent nonprofit organization, sounded the alarm about what transpired in the White House when Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities declined.
The unauthorized use of mechanical signatures on thousands of documents raises questions about who was actually running the country for the last four years.
It also sparks concerns about whether certain pardons, commutations, and executive orders are even legally valid.
The watchdog group uncovered evidence of a third distinct autopen signature used on presidential documents, adding to two previously disclosed mechanical signatures.
Investigators analyzed thousands of documents and determined that the use of autopens “exploded” during the second half of 2022.
This is precisely when concerns about Biden’s mental acuity became increasingly apparent to those around him.
Most troubling is that these devices were frequently employed even when Biden was physically present in the White House.
Oversight Project president Mike Howell said, “The uniformity of these signatures on these proclamations led us to conclude with high confidence that there is a third autopen signature.”
This revelation adds another layer to the growing scandal about who was actually making decisions during Biden’s term.
The group’s analysis shows that Biden physically signed documents during the first 17 months of his presidency, but that practice changed dramatically.
June 13, 2022, was the first time the autopen was deployed for executive orders and pardons. Mechanical signatures were used for all executive orders for the remainder of 2022.
Deputy Press Secretary Harrison Fields declared:
“The American people deserve to know the extent to which unelected staffers and an autopen acted as a proxy president due to the incompetence and infirmity of the previous president. President Trump was elected to restore the integrity and transparency of the office, and answering the question of who was actually running this country for four years is well within the president’s rights.”
The use of autopens continued to increase over time, with 16 of 24 executive orders in 2023 mechanically signed, and 14 of 19 in 2024 bearing the artificial signature.
During Biden’s final 20 days in office in 2025, the autopen signed all 14 executive orders.
Perhaps most disturbing is that these mechanical signatures were used to commute sentences for nearly every federal inmate on death row.
Under President Trump’s direction, the Justice Department is now investigating whether Biden’s aides signed documents without his full knowledge or understanding.
The probe raises serious legal questions about potential charges of forgery, impersonation of a government official, and even bribery if staffers were making decisions outside presidential authority.
While the autopen was originally intended for use when a president was traveling, Biden’s administration appears to have used it as a workaround for his limited daily functioning.
Biden himself has denied being unaware of executive actions and claimed he made all decisions during his presidency, but the evidence suggests otherwise.
“I’ve got news for Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson. They are going to have to give up that information and those names,” said Howell, referring to journalists who documented Biden’s decline in their book “Original Sin.”
In the book, both reporters revealed that Biden could only provide “four to six good hours a day.”
