WILD: Mother Solves Daughter’s Murder

(StraightShooterNews.com) – In a stunning turn of events, a mother solved her daughter’s tragic death, which the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) initially ruled a suicide.

However, Jamie Dickerson remained focused on learning the truth, which led her to discover that it was her son-in-law who murdered her daughter.

29-year-old April Holt was found in her apartment with a plastic bag taped around her neck, causing her death by strangulation.

Disturbingly, Dickerson noted that police reports showed that the only fingerprints found on the bag and tape belonged to Donovan Holt, April’s husband.

Despite the initial ruling, Dickerson did not accept the suicide conclusion and dug deeper into the case.

After months of gathering evidence and piecing together the events leading up to her daughter’s death, Dickerson confronted Donovan.

“That is when I confronted him (Donovan) and he confessed to me and so that is when I went to the police,” Dickerson recounted.

She believes April’s murder came after she asked Donovan for a divorce due to their unhappy marriage.

“I knew that April was unhappy. She requested a divorce two weeks prior and she was dead two weeks later,” Dickerson explained.

Dickerson also pointed out that police overlooked signs of violence on her daughter’s body.

“She had bruises on her wrists, her neck, her ankles, her thighs and none of it was taken as evidence,” she noted.

Her persistence paid off when MNPD obtained a confession from Donovan, who was then arrested and charged.

“Holt confessed to MNPD Cold Case Unit detectives in Texas this past July that he was responsible for strangling his wife. He will be returned to Nashville soon,” the MNPD disclosed.

Following his confession, he was charged with reckless homicide, evidence tampering and false reporting.

Despite the breakthrough, the police initially classified April’s death as a homicide based on the autopsy report.

They stated that there was “no evidence to counter Holt’s explanation given during interviews in that time period.”

However, Dickerson believes the charges against Donovan should confirm the crime’s severity.

“I feel like they failed my family, I have had to fight at the same time as [I] grieve my daughter,” she lamented.

She is demanding a charge of first-degree murder instead of reckless homicide.
