In a bittersweet sentiment for conservative patriots, the leaning-right media outlet Newsmax reported that new jobless claims in the United States increased beyond expectations last week.

See the tweet below.

First-time unemployment insurance claims skyrocketed to a seasonally adjusted 241,000, shooting up by 18,000 from the previous week.

This troubling spike far exceeded economists’ expectations of 225,000 claims, revealing the growing economic crisis that mainstream media continues to downplay.

Even more concerning, continuing unemployment petitions climbed to 1.92 million, increasing by 83,000 and marking the highest level since November 13, 2021.

A significant portion of the unemployment surge came from New York, where claims more than doubled to 30,043.

While this issue was blamed on spring recess in public schools, the broader economic picture clearly shows this is part of a much larger problem.

Unadjusted petitions nationwide rose by 12,901, with businesses across the country becoming increasingly cautious about hiring due to economic uncertainty and the administration’s anti-business policies.

Furthermore, the troubling jobs report coincides with other devastating economic news, including a 0.3% annualized decline in GDP for the first quarter of 2025 – the first contraction in three years.

This economic downturn is being fueled by a surge in imports, cooling consumer spending, and reduced government outlays.

After years of reckless government spending and harmful policies, the economic house of cards built by the past administration appears to be collapsing just as conservatives have long warned.

Major American companies are already feeling the pain, with corporations like UPS reducing staff.

The Labor Department is expected to release nonfarm payroll data for April, with an anticipated increase of just 133,000 jobs.

Under President Trump, Americans enjoyed record-low unemployment, rising wages, and economic prosperity.

Now, hardworking citizens are watching their economic security erode as the current administration prioritizes woke policies and government overreach over the financial well-being of American families.
