(StraightShooterNews.com) – As part of a Congressional task force investigating the incident, Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) unveiled a major clue about the 20-year-old wannabe assassin who targeted GOP candidate Donald Trump last month.
Waltz revealed that gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks used encrypted messaging apps based in Belgium, Germany and New Zealand.
These apps encrypt texts in a way that only the intended receiver can read them.
“Why does a 19-year-old kid who is a health care aide need encrypted platforms not even based in the United States, but based abroad, where most terrorist organizations know it is harder for our law enforcement to get into? That’s a question I’ve had since day one,” Waltz expressed his concerns.
He also criticized the FBI and Secret Service for holding back information about the case.
“They need to be releasing information as they come across it because this wasn’t an isolated incident,” he said. “The threats are continually Iran’s threats.”
Before the assassination attempt, CNN reported that U.S. officials were warned of an Iranian plot to kill Trump, prompting the Biden-Harris administration to inform the Trump campaign and the Secret Service.
Although Iran has denied any involvement, the allegation has raised serious security concerns.
In turn, Iran said it would seek legal action against Trump “for his direct role in the crime of assassinating Martyr General Qassem Soleimani.”
Addressing the threat on Truth Social, Trump stated, “If they do ‘assassinate President Trump,’ which is always a possibility, I hope that America obliterates Iran, wipes it off the face of the Earth — If that does not happen, American Leaders will be considered ‘gutless’ cowards!”
The House recently announced a 13-member task force, consisting of seven Republicans and six Democrats, to investigate the assassination attempt and the security lapses during the rally where Trump was speaking.
During the attack, Crooks managed to get onto a nearby roof, about 130 yards from Trump, and fired eight shots.
One bullet grazed Trump’s right ear, while another tragically killed Trump supporter and firefighter Corey Comperatore.
Rally attendees David Dutch and James Copenhaver were also wounded.
