(StraightShooterNews.com) – The Biden-Harris administration’s failures are now evident on America’s roads as traffic deaths soar to alarming levels.
While bureaucrats push for more government control, they ignore the real issues plaguing the nation’s highways.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chair Jennifer Homendy has sounded the alarm on what she calls a “growing public health crisis” on U.S. roads.
Traffic fatalities have skyrocketed, with pedestrian and cyclist deaths reaching their highest levels in over four decades.
Despite a slight decrease in early 2024, traffic deaths remain significantly higher than pre-pandemic levels. The U.S. Department of Transportation estimates 18,720 traffic deaths occurred in the first half of 2024 alone.
While liberals push for more bike lanes and public transit, they conveniently ignore the role of personal responsibility in road safety.
Speed, impaired driving, and failure to use seatbelts continue to be major contributors to traffic fatalities. Instead of addressing these core issues, the left seeks to restrict Americans’ freedom of movement and choice of vehicle.
“Unlike most developed nations, U.S. roadways have grown more deadly over the last several decades,” NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy said.
“By raw numbers, the U.S. has more motor-vehicle deaths than any other developed country. We also have the highest death rate,” she added.
The left’s war on SUVs and larger vehicles is another misguided attempt to address the issue. They claim these vehicles are more dangerous to cyclists and pedestrians due to their size and design.
However, this ignores the fact that many American families choose these vehicles for their safety features and practicality.
However, the Biden administration’s solution is more government control and spending. They are pushing for a “safe systems” approach funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
Instead of relying on big government solutions, it is important to focus on personal responsibility and common-sense measures.
Strengthening driver education, enforcing existing traffic laws, and improving road maintenance are far more effective than the left’s proposed overreach.
The United States must address the growing public health crisis over high traffic deaths that remain significantly above pre-COVID-19 levels, the head of the National Transportation Safety Board said Tuesday. https://t.co/l0jfmEq743 https://t.co/l0jfmEq743
