(StraightShooterNews.com) – Highlighting the ongoing threat of dangerous bacteria infiltrating America’s food supply, TreeHouse Foods’ frozen waffles sold at major retailers like Walmart and Target are being recalled due to potential listeria contamination.
See the tweet below.
This latest food safety scare puts families at risk and raises questions about government oversight of food producers.
The company announced a voluntary recall after routine testing at one of its facilities detected possible listeria contamination. The recall covers hundreds of frozen waffle products distributed in the United States and Canada.
The recall affects products sold under various brand names at retailers across the country, including Walmart’s Great Value and Target’s Good & Gather lines.
While no illnesses have been reported so far, listeria poses a serious health risk, especially to vulnerable groups like pregnant women, young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that listeria causes about 1,600 infections and 260 deaths annually in the U.S.
Meanwhile, this latest recall raises concerns about food safety standards and regulatory oversight in the U.S. food industry.
Despite the Food Drug Administration’s (FDA) role in ensuring food safety, dangerous pathogens continue to slip through the cracks, putting American families at risk.
The prevalence of listeria, in particular, has been a persistent problem, with recent outbreaks linked to deli meats causing deaths.
Moreover, consumers who have purchased any of the recalled products are urged to either dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
As Americans increasingly rely on processed and pre-packaged foods, the risk of widespread contamination grows.
In the meantime, it was recommended that they check their freezers carefully for any affected products and stay informed about potential recalls to protect themselves and their families from foodborne illnesses.
