(StraightShooterNews.com) – Sparking fears of a potential serial killer on the loose, an 18-year-old boy has been arrested for the brutal murder of a 67-year-old elderly man in a Florida neighborhood.

The gruesome nature of the crime, involving 45 stab wounds and hammer injuries, has shocked the community and raised alarm bells about the safety of citizens in their own homes.

Port Saint Lucie police arrested Omarion Ivory after a series of events that unfolded like a nightmare for the quiet community.

The victim, Francis Gennacem, was discovered in his home after concerned coworkers requested a welfare check when he missed several days of work.

Assistant Police Chief Leo Niemczyk did not mince words about the gravity of the situation, stating, “We may have had an undetected serial killer in the works.”

Moreover, the investigation revealed a disturbing pattern of behavior by Ivory. Surveillance footage showed him lurking in the area on a bike before the murder and later leaving Gennacem’s home.

“All accounts lead us to believe that Mr. Ivory was probably preparing to commit a second homicide that day — a second random act and a second person not known to him,” Police Chief Leo Niemczyk stated.

Ivory’s arrest came after he attempted to break into another home armed with a hammer.

Meanwhile, the brutality of the attack on Gennacem is horrifying, as police believed Ivory struck the victim with a hammer before stabbing him repeatedly. The murder weapon, a 4-inch blade, was found next to Gennacem’s body.

“You have to draw some conclusions based on the forensics and the position of the recovered body in the crime scene,” Niemczyk continued.

“I suspect that when (Gennacem) opened the door, he got hit with the hammer. I think (Ivory) entered, closed the door, and then stabbed him to death,” he added.

Particularly troubling is the report that Ivory has a juvenile arrest history and is rumored to have a history of paranoid schizophrenia.

Ivory now faces severe charges, including first-degree premeditated murder, armed burglary, and grand theft.

He is being held without bond, a necessary measure to protect the community from what authorities believe could have been the beginning of a series of random, violent attacks.
