Rep. Boebert Punched WHO?!

( – Starting the year off with a bang, Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert from Colorado is facing another controversy following an incident involving her ex-husband, Jayson Boebert.

The 37-year-old congresswoman allegedly punched Jayson during an altercation at a restaurant in Silt, Colorado, on a recent evening. However, Boebert firmly denied the accusation of physically assaulting Jayson, who has decided not to press charges.

According to reports, the incident occurred at The Ranchito #4 restaurant. In a statement to the Denver Post, Jayson Boebert indicated that he called the local police to report himself as a victim of domestic violence. Still, he later told the authorities that he did not wish to pursue charges.

In her statement to NBC affiliate KUSA, Lauren Boebert refuted the claims of punching her ex-husband and expressed her intent to consult a lawyer regarding the false allegations made against her.

An aide of Rep. Boebert described the incident as a defensive reaction, stating that when Jayson made an aggressive move toward her, she reacted by putting her hand in his face to repel him. However, another account suggested that Boebert landed two punches on Jayson’s nose, which led him to contact the police.

The evening’s events began with Jayson reportedly acting disrespectfully and growing lewd at the restaurant. After the confrontation, Lauren Boebert and her ex-husband called the police to report their respective accounts of the incident.

The Boeberts divorced in 2023, citing irreconcilable differences, and have a history that includes their son’s teenage pregnancy and Jayson’s previous guilty plea to public indecency charges in 2004.

The Silt Police Department is reportedly conducting an active investigation into the incident. Requests for comment from the congresswoman’s spokesperson went unanswered, and attempts to reach Jayson Boebert were unsuccessful.

This incident adds to a series of high-profile controversies involving Rep. Boebert, including a heated exchange with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and a disruptive incident at a theater with her then-partner Quinn Gallagher.

Known for her outspoken and sometimes controversial behavior, Boebert narrowly won reelection in Colorado’s 3rd District in 2022 and later announced her decision to run in the state’s 4th Congressional District.
