(StraightShooterNews.com) – In a true testament to the liberals’ hostility toward conservative voices, a man in Waukegan, Illinois, faces aggravated battery and other charges for pepper-spraying a pro-life activist outside a Planned Parenthood clinic.
This violent incident is another troubling example of how pro-lifers’ peaceful protests are being targeted.
The suspect has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery in a public place, a Class 2 felony. This charge alone could land him a significant prison sentence if he is convicted.
In addition to this serious charge, the suspect also faces a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct stemming from the same incident.
The charges against the suspect arose after he used pepper spray on a pro-life activist who was peacefully praying outside the Planned Parenthood facility.
This attack occurred during a 40 Days for Life campaign demonstration.
Police reports indicate that the suspect, identified as Outland, had been harassing pro-lifers, destroying signs and even kicking a table before the pepper spray incident.
The victim stepped in to protect other demonstrators, which is when Outland sprayed him in the face.
This was reportedly the third time in just a few days that Outland had engaged in harassing behavior at the clinic.
Outland has been released from police custody under certain conditions: surrendering any weapons, staying away from the victim and avoiding contact with anyone in the 40 Days for Life organization.
He is scheduled for a preliminary court hearing on October 15. If found guilty, Outland could face up to seven years in prison.
The Waukegan Planned Parenthood facility, which opened in 2020 near the Wisconsin border to attract abortion business from Wisconsin, has a troubling history of pro-abortion violence.
Besides this recent attack, pro-lifers have faced violence in the past, such as an egging attack not long ago.
This incident is not an isolated case. Just a few months ago, elderly pro-life advocates Dick Schafer (80) and Mark Crosby (73) were violently attacked outside a Planned Parenthood in Baltimore.
Although they suffered severe injuries, both men courageously returned to the clinic to continue their pro-life advocacy.
This case underscores a dire need for stronger protections for pro-life advocates who regularly face harassment and violence.
Peaceful demonstrators should not have to fear for their safety while exercising their First Amendment rights.
Law enforcement and the judicial system must act to prevent such attacks and uphold the rights of those standing up for life.
