NY Attorney General Tells Trump ‘No!’

Donald Trump at a rally with supporters.

(StraightShooterNews.com) – It seems that radical Democrats are still witch-hunting President-elect Donald Trump as infamous New York Attorney General Letitia James said no to the president’s efforts to dismiss the $486 million fraud case against him.

Despite his recent reelection and calls for national unity, James’s office has firmly rejected Trump’s plea to drop the lawsuit, signaling a relentless pursuit of justice against him.

President Trump’s legal team attempted to leverage his reelection victory to dismiss ongoing legal challenges.

They argued that federal criminal cases against Trump had been dropped following his return to office, setting a precedent for unity and closure.

However, New York’s legal system is not buying that story. Deputy Solicitor General Judith Vale, representing the AG’s office, said in a letter to Trump attorney John Sauer:

“This Office will not stipulate to vacate the final judgment already entered by Supreme Court, New York County, in this action or otherwise seek to dismiss the action.”

“Presidents do not have immunity from civil lawsuits arising from unofficial conduct, and such lawsuits may proceed while the President is in office,” she added.

This uncompromising stance by the New York AG’s office has sent shockwaves through Trump’s camp.

The refusal to back down highlights the determination of state officials to hold the former president accountable for his alleged financial misdeeds, regardless of his current political status.

In a statement, Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung called James’ letter “sad and weak.” He added, “AG James should heed President Trump’s call for national unity and drop this baseless, discredited witch hunt.”

Trump’s legal team, led by Sauer, made impassioned pleas for dismissal, citing the need for national unity and the potential interference with Trump’s presidential duties.

Sauer argued, “President Trump has called for our Nation’s partisan strife to end, and for the contending factions to join forces for the greater good of the country.

This call for unity extends to the legal onslaught against him and his family that permeated the most recent election cycle.”

However, Vale swiftly dismissed these arguments as meritless, emphasizing that civil litigation does not impede presidential duties.

The case, which has been ongoing since 2022, accused Trump and his associates of grossly inflating asset values to secure favorable loans and insurance terms.

With the total amount owed by Trump, the Trump Organization, and top executives now exceeding $497 million with interest, the stakes for the former president could not be higher.

As the legal battle intensifies, Letitia James has made it clear she is prepared to face any challenges, including a potential second Trump administration.

For President Trump’s supporters, this ongoing legal saga represents yet another example of the relentless persecution he faces from what they perceive as a biased justice system.

As the appeals process continues and the total owed climbs with each passing day, one thing is certain: The battle between Trump and New York’s legal system is far from over.

The outcome of this case could have far-reaching implications for the future of American politics and the limits of presidential power.
