No More Katy Perry?!

( – Bidding goodbye to our TVs for good after a long run, Katy Perry announced she is leaving “American Idol” during a recent interview.

Chatting on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” the singer shared the news and surprised the audience by revealing that the show’s 22nd season would be her last.

Perry explained her decision and mentioned a significant upcoming engagement. “This September, I’m going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio. It’s really exciting,” she stated. She also highlighted the event’s importance to her Brazilian fans and said this commitment was the reason for her departure.

Since joining the revived version of “American Idol” in 2018 alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, Perry has become a staple of the judging panel.

Expressing her affection for the show she mentioned, “I love Idol so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America. But I need to feel that pulse of my own beat,” which might indicate she desires to return to her musical roots and possibly hint at new music and a world tour.

When asked about the reactions of her fellow judges, Perry humorously noted, “Well, they’ll find out tonight,” which suggests they were unaware of her decision until her public announcement.

Perry later confirmed her departure on Instagram with a playful post that included, “This is my last season on @americanidol,” among two truths and a lie.

Rumors of Perry’s intent to leave “Idol” had circulated for months fueled by discussions about her coaching style, which some die-hard fans criticized as provocative and occasionally “rude.”

Additionally, Perry reportedly felt misrepresented by “Idol” producers since she believed they edited footage to portray her unfavorably.

Perry’s tenure on “Idol” was not without controversy following a moment when she was perceived to mom-shame a contestant and accusations of “psychological warfare” against two other participants.
