(StraightShooterNews.com) – Given the political earthquake set off by Donald Trump’s presidency and his recent successes, House Representative Nancy Pelosi made the shocking announcement of having filed paperwork to run for reelection in 2026.
Despite her party’s recent losses and Trump’s return to the White House, Pelosi refuses to step aside.
Pelosi’s decision to seek reelection comes at a time when her party is in disarray. Having lost control of both the House and Senate, Democrats are struggling to find a message that resonates with voters.
Pelosi, who has represented San Francisco since 1987, seems tone-deaf to the changing political landscape and the American people’s rejection of liberal policies.
The longtime congresswoman’s filing with the Federal Election Commission signals her intent to remain a thorn in the side of the Republican majority and the Trump administration.
This move is particularly galling given her role in the failed attempts to undermine President Trump during his first term, including the partisan impeachment proceedings.
In a recent interview, the House representative suggested that the Democrats might have performed better in the elections if Joe Biden had stepped aside earlier.
“Had the president gotten out sooner, there may have been other candidates in the race,” she said.
Moreover, she dodged questions about whether this would be her last term, instead expressing her intention to continue fighting for Democrat victories.
“I’m not here to talk about that. I’m here to fight the fight so that we win in the next election. I must have thought I had the last term over and over again, but as fate would have it, the mission called,” Pelosi affirmed.
Pelosi’s statement reeks of entitlement and a disconnect from reality. The “mission” she speaks of seems to be nothing more than a desperate attempt to cling to power and obstruct the will of the American people.
The former Speaker’s decision to run again is particularly troubling given her age. At 84, Pelosi would be 88 by the time she takes office if reelected in 2026.
Pelosi’s role as a significant opponent of President Trump during his first term has been well-documented, and her concern about his return to the White House is palpable.
However, this time she finds herself in unfamiliar territory – no longer in a leadership position during a Republican administration for the first time since George W. Bush’s first term.
