Each of the arrested men is being held on a $20,000 bond and is expected to appear in court soon.
However, the damage to the community’s trust and sense of security may be irreparable.
Although it is unclear whether the looting occurred in residential homes or businesses, the impact on the victims is clearly severe.
The incident occurred in one of Washington County’s flood zones, an area already devastated by Hurricane Helene’s catastrophic flooding.
The storm, which made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane in Florida’s Big Bend Region, has left a path of destruction across multiple states, killing at least 128 people and affecting millions of Americans.
Hurricane Helene’s impact on Tennessee has been devastating. Over 40 trillion gallons of water were dumped on the state, causing widespread flooding and destruction.
In Greene County alone, five bridges were destroyed and fourteen state highways were rendered unusable.
