(StraightShooterNews.com) – Already serving a life without the possibility of parole, convicted serial killer Raul Meza Jr. is now at the center of a chilling investigation that could link him to additional unsolved murders.
Meza’s criminal history is a testament to the failures of America’s soft judicial process. In 1982, he brutally murdered 8-year-old Kendra Page, receiving a 30-year sentence.
However, due to misguided policies, he was released on parole after serving only 11 years. This awful miscarriage of justice allowed Meza to potentially commit more heinous acts, leaving a trail of victims in his wake.
The investigation into Meza’s potential involvement in cold cases gained momentum when he shockingly contacted Austin Police in March 2023.
During a 14-minute call with Detective Patrick Reed, Meza provided disturbing details about his crimes, including the murders of Jesse Fraga and a woman on Sara Drive in 2019.
Authorities are now meticulously combing through unsolved cases, employing advanced forensic techniques to uncover any connections to Meza.
While he has been eliminated as a suspect in eight cold cases, four others are pending DNA testing.
The ongoing investigation extends beyond Austin, with potential links to cases in Pflugerville and San Antonio, highlighting the far-reaching impact of this killer’s actions.
“The work continues on this case,” Detective Patrick Reed stated. “We still have other cases that we think he may be involved in.”
Despite Meza’s heinous crimes, including the murders of Jesse Fraga and Gloria Lofton, for which he was convicted in September 2024, it took until now for him to receive a life sentence without parole.
“This time was a little bit different than any other time I’ve ever answered the phone. The caller said, my name is Raul Meza and I think you’re looking for me,” Detective Reed continued.
“Someone like Mr. Meza has been incarcerated, he’s been through the system quite a bit, he’s been interviewed by the police probably countless times, more than most, so he’s very attuned to the situation he was in, so he wasn’t caught off guard or seemingly concerned in any way,” he added.
As the investigation unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the importance of robust law enforcement and a justice system that prioritizes the safety of law-abiding citizens over the rights of violent criminals.
The potential resolution of these cold cases may provide long-awaited closure for victims’ families. Still, it also underscores the need for stricter sentencing and parole policies to prevent such tragedies in the future.
