(StraightShooterNews.com) – In a shocking turn of events, a former Republican congressional candidate in Florida has been charged with threatening to assassinate his primary rival, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna.
Former Republican candidate for Florida’s 13th congressional district William Robert Braddock III made chilling threats against Luna during the 2021 primary campaign.
The Justice Department has charged Braddock with one count of interstate transmission of a true threat to injure another person, a crime that carries a potential five-year prison sentence.
According to the indictment, Braddock made multiple threats on June 8, 2021, including a disturbing statement about using a “Russian-Ukrainian hit squad” to eliminate Luna.
“I really don’t want to have to end anybody’s life for the good of the people of the United States of America,” Braddock allegedly said in a recorded conversation, according to court documents. “That will break my heart. But if it needs to be done, it needs to be done.”
The threats were so severe that Luna sought and got a temporary restraining order against Braddock due to fears for her safety.
Herself an Air Force veteran and staunch conservative, Luna has been threatened several times since taking office.
This case is part of a broader crackdown by federal prosecutors on election-related threats and political violence ahead of the 2024 election cycle.
Luna’s office recently received a “very serious shooting threat,” underscoring the ongoing risks she faces as a notable conservative voice in Congress.
Despite these challenges, Luna remains committed to her constituents and continues to advocate for conservative principles.
The case against Braddock serves as a wake-up call for conservatives across the nation.
It highlights the need for increased security measures to protect elected officials and ensure that the democratic process remains free from intimidation and violence.
Meanwhile, Luna prepares for her re-election campaign in Florida’s 13th Congressional District, where she is expected to win.
