(StraightShooterNews.com) – In a nerve-racking development that could have ended in disaster, renowned Colombian reggaeton artist Karol G experienced a distressing moment when her private jet was forced to make an emergency landing.

The incident saw the cockpit being engulfed by smoke and occurred after the aircraft took off from Burbank Airport. Shortly after takeoff, the plane had to reroute over Cajun Pass, located 70 miles east of the airport, because of the sudden issue.

The aircraft, which sports a barbed-wire heart logo similar to the singer’s arm tattoo and carried the 33-year-old Grammy award-winning singer and her 16-member crew, managed a safe landing at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, where emergency response teams met it.

Footage from the scene showed Karol G, born Carolina Giraldo Navarro, and her team exiting the plane visibly relieved and engaging in hugs on the tarmac. She was also seen thanking someone who seemed to be the pilot amid the attention of emergency crews.

The specifics behind the malfunction remain undisclosed and it has not been confirmed whether the singer or any passengers sustained injuries from the ordeal. Despite the incident Karol G has not yet made any public statements regarding the event.

This emergency landing follows closely after the artist concluded the Mexican leg of her “Mañana Será Bonito” tour following seven performances. She is slated for a concert in Guatemala City today.

Karol G’s recent achievements include winning her first Grammy for the “best música urbana album” and being honored as Billboard’s 2024 Woman of the Year, which she is expected to receive at the Billboard Women in Music Awards on March 6.

Her latest album, “Mañana Será Bonito,” was released in February 2023 and saw her become the first female artist to lead the Billboard 200 chart with a Spanish-language album. In addition to her musical success, Karol G initiated Bichota Records and entered into a partnership with Interscope Records last summer.

Following the album’s successful launch Karol G featured prominently at Lollapalooza 2023 and swiftly moved to start the United States leg of her tour with sold-out performances across the nation’s most prominent stadiums.

The Medellín native is poised to resume her Latin American tour this weekend until May 10, which covers several nations across Latin and South America before venturing into Europe to finish the tour.
