This recall follows another recent pet food contamination scare, highlighting a disturbing trend in the industry.
The affected treats were distributed through Hollywood Feed stores across multiple states, potentially putting countless dogs at risk.
While no illnesses have been reported yet, the danger is real. Salmonella can affect both animals and humans, with symptoms ranging from lethargy and diarrhea to fever and vomiting.
Carolina Prime Pet said in a statement:
“Salmonella can affect animals eating the product and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.”
Even though the contamination was reportedly discovered through routine quality control by a third-party lab, pet owners who have purchased these treats are advised to stop using them immediately and contact Carolina Prime Pet for a refund or replacement.
