Disgraced Pol RETURNS – New Bid Launched

(StraightShooterNews.com) – Disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) is attempting a political comeback as a new bid was launched to run for mayor of NYC despite a sexual harassment scandal that forced him to resign.

Cuomo is challenging current Mayor Eric Adams, who faces federal corruption charges, while hypocritically attacking other politicians for creating chaos in the city.

A February poll showed many Democrats in the deep-blue city may actually be willing to overlook Cuomo’s scandalous past.

Cuomo announced his mayoral bid on March 1, launching a campaign focused on “fixing the city” and reviving his political career after his disgraceful 2021 exit as governor.

His campaign has already created a super PAC called “Fix the City,” with plans to raise $15 million from wealthy donors.

Cuomo’s campaign is already off to a quick start, with deep pockets backing the Democrat’s return to power.

In a city plagued by crime, homelessness, and illegal immigration, Cuomo has positioned himself as a crisis manager, pointing to his previous government experience.

The irony of Cuomo criticizing other politicians for New York City’s problems cannot be overstated. The former governor’s policies have contributed significantly to the state’s ongoing exodus of taxpayers and businesses.

Yet, Cuomo is now attempting to rebrand himself as the solution to problems he helped create.

Surprisingly, Cuomo is actually taking a tough-on-crime stance in his campaign, blasting his opponents for defunding the police. At a campaign event, he stated:

“We know that these politicians now running to be mayor made a terrible, terrible mistake. They uttered the three dumbest words ever uttered by a government official: ‘cut police funding.’ They cut $1 billion from the police budget. What did you think was going to happen? It created a city in chaos.”

This newfound respect for law enforcement comes after years of implementing progressive policies that contributed to New York’s decline.

Moreover, Cuomo’s political resurrection bid comes while he is still embroiled in controversy.

The DOJ found that he created a “sexually hostile work environment” for at least 13 women as part of a settlement acknowledging changes made by current Governor Kathy Hochul.

Despite these serious findings, his attorney Rita Glavin dismissed the DOJ investigation as politically motivated, claiming it was based on a “deeply flawed, inaccurate, biased, and misleading report.”

In his announcement video, Cuomo vaguely acknowledged making mistakes without directly addressing the sexual harassment allegations that ended his governorship.

“Did I make mistakes, some painfully? Definitely, and I believe I learned from them and that I am a better person for it, and I hope to show that every day,” Cuomo said.

This non-apology exemplifies the double standard that allows Democrat politicians to avoid real consequences for their actions while demanding strict accountability from conservatives.

Despite his tarnished reputation, a February poll showed Cuomo with 33% support among NYC Democrat primary voters, compared to just 10% for the incumbent Adams.

This remarkable statistic demonstrates how liberal voters are willing to overlook serious sexual harassment allegations when they come from a Democrat politician.

The same voters who lecture conservatives about respecting women are ready to put Cuomo back in power, highlighting the left’s stunning hypocrisy.

The mayoral primary is scheduled for June, with the general election in early November.

New York City voters now face a choice between a scandal-plagued former governor and a corruption-charged incumbent—a fitting predicament for a city that continues to suffer under decades of Democratic leadership.
