(StraightShooterNews.com) – Just when he thought he had a respite from his ongoing criminal trials, a bombshell report revealed another of Hunter Biden’s potentially illegal schemes.
It has been disclosed that Hunter asked the U.S. Embassy in Rome to help him secure a profitable business deal for Ukrainian gas company Burisma during his father’s tenure as vice president.
This information came to light after the State Department released records to the New York Times following Joe Biden’s decision to end his 2024 re-election campaign last month.
In response to Hunter’s 2016 request, a Commerce Department official at the embassy expressed caution and highlighted the ethical boundaries in place. “I want to be careful about promising too much,” the official stated.
The official also emphasized that the US government should not actively support a foreign company with the Italian government without proper processes through the Department of Commerce Advocacy Center.
This episode adds to ongoing scrutiny of Hunter’s international business dealings and violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
Special Counsel David Weiss recently cited evidence in court filings suggesting that Hunter was involved in efforts to influence U.S. government actions on behalf of foreign interests, including Romanian businessman Gabriel Popoviciu.
Despite these revelations, Hunter’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, defended his client’s actions.
Lowell told the New York Times that Hunter simply sought to serve as a bridge to introduce Burisma executives and Italy’s Tuscany region president Enrico Rossi.
Lowell described the move as a “proper request” and clarified that no meeting or project came out of it.
According to emails obtained from Hunter’s infamous abandoned laptop, Burisma was lobbying to secure regulatory approval for a geothermal energy project in the Italian region.
The White House responded to these reports by stating that Joe Biden was unaware of his son’s actions during his vice presidency.
Although the State Department’s document release coincided with Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race, the odd timing was described as coincidental.
Hunter is currently facing a trial in Los Angeles set for September 5, with nine charges related to tax crimes, including six felonies.
