‘Boardwalk Empire’ Star Attacked

(StraightShooterNews.com) – In a baffling showcase of unwarranted violence that could have ended in tragedy, acclaimed actor Michael Stuhlbarg experienced a shocking incident while he was jogging in New York City.

According to sources linked to law enforcement who spoke with Page Six, the “Doctor Strange” actor was unexpectedly assaulted by Xavier Israel, a 27-year-old homeless man.

Israel reportedly struck Stuhlbarg from behind with a rock and caused him a noticeable abrasion.

In response to the assault, Stuhlbarg chased Israel near the Russian Consulate, where law enforcement officers caught Israel without further issues. The attacker now faces assault charges.

Stuhlbarg declined any medical treatment following the incident while the motive behind his attack remains unclear.

Israel’s criminal history includes three arrests in January 2022: two assault charges and one theft, as detailed by WABC-TV. He had been under parole for attempted robbery at the time of his latest attack.

Recognized for his compelling portrayal of gangster Arnold Rothstein in “Boardwalk Empire”—a role that earned him two Screen Actors Guild Awards— Stuhlbarg has also been nominated for an Emmy for his performance as Richard Sackler in “Dopesick.”

This incident marks a disturbing encounter for Stuhlbarg merely blocks from where his “Boardwalk Empire” character met a fictional demise near Central Park.

Currently in New York for his upcoming role in “Patriots,” Stuhlbarg is set to appear as Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky later this in a Broadway play by “The Crown” creator Peter Morgan that explores Vladimir Putin’s rise to power.
