Barack to Democrats: ‘FIGHT’

(StraightShooterNews.com) – Resorting to nostalgia to rally their base, this year’s Democrat National Convention essentially turned into a remake of the 2008 one after former President Barack Obama took center stage.

During his nearly 40-minute speech, Obama demanded that Democrats gather around presidential nominee Kamala Harris and “fight for the America we believe in.”

“I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling fired up. I am feeling ready to go,” Obama declared, reviving his famous chant from 2008.

Echoing themes from his past conventions, Obama reminded the audience of his breakout moment at the 2004 DNC and his 2008 nomination acceptance.

“I know that is hard to believe, because I have not aged a bit,” he joked about the passage of time.

In his address, Obama not only supported Harris but also praised vice-presidential nominee Tim Walz.

“I love this guy. Tim is the kind of person who should be in politics,” Obama said of Walz.

Obama also made a point of reconciling with Joe Biden, saying his decision to step down from a reelection bid was a selfless act for the country’s benefit.

Meanwhile, Obama didn’t shy away from critiquing Donald Trump, portraying him as out of touch and counterproductive.

Obama is said to have been the one who masterminded the plan to get 81-year-old Biden off the ticket after a lackluster debate performance against GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.

“History will remember Joe Biden as an outstanding president who defended democracy at a moment of great danger,” Obama expressed. “And I am proud to call him my president. But I am even prouder to call him my friend.”

He also added that Biden was “selfless enough to do the rarest thing there is in politics, putting his own ambition aside for the sake of the country.”

Following Obama, his wife Michelle also spoke about a sense of hope and the potential for positive change moving forward, even though Democrats have held the White House for almost four years.

Meanwhile, critics like Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley argued that this year’s DNC attempted to recapture the magic of Obama’s era.

He also insisted that the party had shifted too far left with Harris, “but Americans are already saying ‘no we can’t’ to four more years of Kamala Harris’ disastrous policies.”
