(StraightShooterNews.com) – During landing at Charlotte Douglas International Airport early Friday morning, the Carolina Panthers football team was involved in an aircraft scare as the Delta Airlines flight they were aboard ran off the runway.
The incident occurred around 2:35 a.m. when Delta Flight 8860 touched down at the North Carolina airport. According to a local outlet, the flight had arrived from Providence, Rhode Island, just after midnight.
“The right main gear of Delta 8860 exited the taxiway at Charlotte Douglas International Airport following a normal arrival,” the airline said.
Emergency vehicles rushed to the plane as soon as it went off the runway.
Moreover, witnesses at the airport mentioned that the plane was carrying an unspecified number of Carolina Panthers players who had just played against the New England Patriots in a National Football League (NFL) preseason game.
Fortunately, Delta Airlines confirmed that none of the 188 passengers onboard were injured in the incident.
Passengers were safely evacuated and then “bused to the terminal,” Delta said.
“We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience,” Delta added in their statement.
This frightening event followed another incident earlier the same day, as four American Airlines flight attendants were injured on a flight from Tampa Bay to Charlotte.
Additionally, American Airlines Flight 2905 landed safely at Charlotte Douglas International after experiencing unexpected turbulence, the airline reported.
According to the report, the four flight attendants were taken to a local hospital for evaluation, and no passengers were injured on the American Airlines flight.
