1 Million Public Workers Say ‘Thanks, Joe!’

(StraightShooterNews.com) – Raising serious questions about this massive handout funded by hardworking taxpayers, 1 million public workers thanked Joe Biden as his current administration expanded the student loan forgiveness scheme plan.

Biden’s Department of Education has dramatically expanded the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program, originally created in 2007.

This program promised loan forgiveness after ten years of public service but was plagued by high rejection rates due to complex eligibility rules.

Now, the administration has loosened these rules, opening the floodgates for mass debt cancellation.

Before the Biden administration’s changes, only 7,000 public workers had received loan forgiveness through PSLF. At the moment, that number has skyrocketed to over 1 million.

This current educational financial chaos represents a massive transfer of wealth from taxpayers to a select group of borrowers, many of whom work in left-leaning professions like teaching and government service.

Meanwhile, Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, seemingly oblivious to the burden this places on taxpayers, celebrated the expansion.

He claimed that public service careers can now lead to “debt-free living within a decade.”

However, this ignores the reality that someone always pays—in this case, the American taxpayer foots the bill for these generous handouts.

“For too long, the government failed to live up to its commitments,” Biden said in a statement. “We vowed to fix that, and because of actions from our administration, now over 1 million public service workers have gotten the relief they are entitled to under the law.”

Moreover, Biden’s statement revealed the administration’s misguided priorities. Instead of addressing the root causes of skyrocketing college costs or promoting fiscal responsibility, they are doubling down on failed policies that incentivize reckless borrowing and bloated bureaucracies.

The average student loan balance forgiven under PSLF is approximately $70,000. This means that many high-earning professionals with advanced degrees are receiving massive windfalls at taxpayer expense.

Meanwhile, hardworking Americans who did not attend college or who responsibly paid off their loans are left wondering why they’re subsidizing others’ choices.

It is worth noting that Biden’s broader student loan cancellation plans have faced significant legal challenges.

The Supreme Court rightly blocked his proposal to cancel up to $20,000 for 40 million Americans, recognizing it as an unconstitutional overreach of executive power.

Nevertheless, the administration continues to search for loopholes to push through its agenda of mass debt cancellation.

Conservatives should be deeply concerned about the long-term implications of these policies. By continually expanding loan forgiveness programs, the government is creating moral hazard and encouraging irresponsible borrowing.

This will likely lead to even higher college costs and more debt in the future, as schools and students alike expect the government to foot the bill eventually.

Furthermore, this expansion of PSLF disproportionately benefits those in government and public sector jobs, many of whom already enjoy generous benefits and job security.

GOP leader Donald Trump has proposed eliminating the PSLF program entirely and opposing Biden’s broader student debt cancellation efforts.

The expansion of PSLF is yet another example of the Biden administration’s reckless spending and disregard for taxpayer interests.

While it may provide short-term relief for some, it does nothing to address the root causes of the student debt crisis and unfairly burdens hardworking Americans who played by the rules.
